Specialty Assessments

Psychologists at NPPA may also provide specialty psychological testing and assessments upon request. 

Common assessments requested include:

• Bariatric Evaluations. A referral from a general surgeon for a psychological assessment before a bariatric procedure.

• C&P Examinations. A referral from the VA or a VA disability benefits consultant for an initial or review Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examination.

• Disability Examinations. A referral from the South Dakota State Disability Determination Services or South Dakota Vocational Rehabilitation Services to assess a possible disability. 

Your referral source that refers you to NPPA will discuss the reason these assessments may be required or recommended. A NPPA psychologist will discuss your situation, relevant background and any current issues and concerns during an interview. Screening measures and psychological testing will be tailored to your assessment and referral question and are used to aid in any relevant diagnosis and recommendations, which are sent to your referral source.
